Painted insulation boards were used as the main material for an exhibition of the work of frontoffice tokyo in Toronto (at the gallery at Toronto Metropolitan University, Department of Architecture Science). An echo of the design was used in the 2021 Venice Biennale, and in that case the material was discarded at the end of the show.

Noting the waste, we made an effort to re-use the materials after the exhibition in Toronto was finished. The pink “monoliths” were re-cut with CNC and finished with a laminate to create a bespoke sculptural kitchen island. The design is surprisingly durable, if soft.
