the wallpaper* magazine just arrived, and so i thought i’d share the contents here

the cool thing about the wallpaper* mag was that we got to join up with the other asian offices featured in the publication and get our mugs taken by a pro photographer.  the idea for the directory this year was that the new architects round the world would get their pictures taken in a building under construction by a firm that is well established.  For us that meant a new train station by tadao ando in shibuya.  it was about 90% complete when we had our pictures taken but was very nice to have a preview of the place and to be the only people in this huge station.  we won’t likely get to experience the place like that again.

because the photographer chose to treat the building as the 10th person in the picture we all came out a wee bit small.  here is a close-up with us, standing with the already mentioned good fellows of issho architecture.

the project featured in the mag is the dah-bee-deh house, a beach house that is in planning phase still, but can be seen in our still under construction website here.

This is a bit of news we have been kind of excited about.  apparently we are hot.

Wallpaper* magazine’s annual directory of the world’s top 50 ( ! ) hot new offices this year includes frontoffice.  it is very gratifying to be joined in the list by a few friends here in tokyo, including the good fellows at issho, who we know from a few years back.

the magazine hasn’t arrived in our office yet, but the website is absolutely worth looking at.
