closing in…
October 30th, 2007
the exterior walls and roof are finished, structurally, and the carpenters are finishing the interior.
↑↑ roofscape. The carpenters did a brilliant job of framing the roof in spite of the subtle twist. It looks beautiful from top and bottom.
↑↑ from the entrance. wooden walls are being insulated now (the concrete walls will be finished with sprayed on insulation later)…
↑↑ interior. the interior walls need to be sheathed in parts on both sides with structural grade plywood to work as shear walls. The drawings are pretty clear about which ones these are but the sub-contractor somehow thought he needed to do them all and we didn’t catch it until he was just finishing. We decided to leave them as they are rather than make him take out the extra bits of ply-wood.
The big gap in the wall in back on the photo above is for bringing materials through to the back of the site (the road is just beyond the opening). It will be filled in later.
↑↑ another shot from the deck. The overhang and fin/wall that frame the large livingroom window seems to have been forgotten, but will soon be rectified.
