the work is in the last days, finally. the contractor needed to order new exterior tiles after a mix up with the distributor, and there are a few things left that will be finished in a day or so, but i thought i’d post a few of the details of the work anyway.

最後の二日間です。最初に注文した床タイルが間違いましたので、新しい物入るまでちょっと時間がかかりました。 も少し残っているけど、一応所どころののデイテルを見せようとおもいました。。。

well, we are finally filling in the last gaps, about a week later than planned, and with some changes on the way. The client asked for some color changes and so did the neighbour. In the interest of happy neighbours we decided to not do some of the noisier demolition work (involving serious jack-hammer power), and changed a color or two. The whole still works ok, and next set of images should be the finished product.

一週間遅くなりましたけど、もそろそろ終わりです。客さんと近所の人の頼みで、仕上色とデイテルが少し変更になりましたけど、全体的には良い感じと思います。次のポストは出来た物を見せる事が出来ると思う。。。

↑↑ the final part of the inside was finished up this week with the installation of the glass door in the bath, using some rather nice hinges@top and bottom. My camera causes some serious distortion but you can get a feeling for the final product. it is better than we thought it would be actually, which is a nice feeling, for a change…

内部の最後の部分が出来ました。浴室の強化硝子扉が設置しました。結構良い感じです。思ったより良い物になりまして、うれしいです。

the tomigaya house is very nearly finished on the inside. with a few items left undone we went forward with the snagging today and owners will move in shortly. things will be tightened up a bit still, but these photos gove a pretty good idea of how it is going to come out.富ヶ谷ハウスお内部は９０％終わりましたので、今日は 最後のチェックしました。まだも少しきれいになりますけど、この写真を見ると出来たもがほとんど見えます。

↑↑　bath, with curving floor tiles. the tap for the tub is still remaining, but will be in the same style as the shower/tap combo to the left. there is also a long mirror that will go in above the tiled shelf, across the length of the room.

お風呂の水栓と鏡が残っています。タイルはかなりきれいに出来て良かったです。

↑↑　the one large item remaining here is the glass door, which will be hinged at the top and bottom, about 100mm from the wall so that it can open without problems in spite of the rounded floor.

ここには、硝子扉はまだ残っています。床が曲がっているですから扉の丁番は横の壁に付けるじゃなくて、上下にします。

浴室の詳細。天井は木材棒で作りました。

↑↑　the sink is in a small alcove before the bath room, and finished with the same mozaic tiles. The mirror/cabinet hides lighting to the sides and below.

↑↑　with the flooring visible and the painting completed the living are is looking quite fine. the floor is walnut. the exterior louvers are half finished, but are coming along quite nicely.

リビング・ダイニングの床（クルミ）が見えると大分きれいな感じをします。外のルーバーは手すりとして使いますから早めに終了したいと思いますが。。。上手く行けば、あと三日間で終わり。。。楽しみしています。

the project is nearly done on the interior, with most of the work to be completed in the next 2 days.

内部が大分進んでいますので、後三日間ぐらいでその分は終わりになると思います。

浴室壁を丸くして、きれいになっています。

↑↑ the new wall+shelf combo is more or less finished, with only corrections to the paint left. The front of the wood shelf is to be painted white, with only the top left showing its wooden surface. The kitchen and a new piece of built in furniture incorporating the AC system is the only large part remaining. Should be completed in a day or 2.

2階リビング がほとんど終わりました。ペンキ以外には、家具と台所だけが残っています。壁にある「棚」は全部白くします。板天端だけは木目を見せます。

it is a bit hard to show the wall/shelf object clearly with our wee little digital camera, but it is trust me, a very nice space to experience, especially when up close and under the sloping wall. these images give a bit of an impression.

私たちの小さなデジタルカメラを使って、写真で表現するのが難しい 壁ですけど、このイメージで少し分かります。壁の斜めの部分の下にいる時には、特に面白い気分になります。

The scaffolding is supposed to come down in a day or two so we will take a few updated pictures when that happens. The front exterior stairs, tiles and exterior wooden louvers still remain to be finished.

外の足場はもうすぐばらしますので、 それが出来てから外部の写真を撮ります。残りは木材ルーバー、外部階段とタイル床仕上です。

the exterior is proceeding nicely, but for now some more interior shots.

the interior wall/shelf is nearly finished, more or less as we imagined it. We needed to modify the design to accomodate some unforseen structural beams (no drawings!), but the work is looking pretty good and we expect it to turn out nicely. After the joints are taped only painting remains.

内部棚などは大分進んでいます。次はジョイントをテープしてペンキを塗ると終わりします。

in the front hall the stairs and new flooring are also moving ahead as planned. a simple railing and a “unique” wallpaper will finish this wall when complete.

玄関階段壁と床もう大分進んでいます。残りは階段手すりと特別ウオールペーパー。

the bathing room is japanese style, which is to say it is separate from the sink and toilet (each in their own room). We are putting in a rounded glass door to go with the rounded floor made from beautiful small italian mozaic tiles. The contractor hasn’t formed the substrate for tiles into a curve yet, so i have sketched it in here. The ceiling will be finished with wooden dowels below the surface visible in the picture, forming the same curved shape as the floor. The final effect will be of a continous ring in the same direction as the bath. The side walls are to be finished with a simple white tile.

浴室硝子扉の角は丸くにします。タイルの下地はこれから作りますので、床と天井も丸くします。天井の場合は上の写真に見える天井の下に木材の棒を並べて作ります。結果的にはこの壁は切れ目なしのループになります。
